Lucky me! I asked Cooperative Press to provide me with a copy of Sock Architecture by Lara Neel to investigate for review.

Lucky you! Not only did they promptly do so, they also offered to provide a second e-book for giveaway to our readers!

If you’re a sock knitter, (or have contemplated becoming one), you know that there’s loads of gorgeous sock patterns available. I’ve knitted many of them and have pattern books filled with more awaiting my attention. When I first started knitting socks, I collected them by the dozen. As I’ve gotten more pairs under my belt, I’ve learned that what’s more empowering than access to unlimited patterns is the knowledge of how those patterns are created – and the flexibility to create socks that fit the recipient with precision. For that reason – patterns and books that feed that type of skill set are my favorite.

I eagerly dug into Sock Architecture to see if it was one of those rare and valuable resources that elevate the sock knitters’ abilities. After reading it through, digesting some tips and knitting some swatches, I can confirm that this is just such a gem of a book.
Filled with various heels and toes suitable for different shapes of feet, there’s plenty to experiment with here. Seventeen full patterns not only ustilize the toe/heel variations, they each provide a worksheet to create a custom fit as you wish. Toe up, cuff down, gussets, afterthought heels, this book gathers it all into one meaty resource, sprinkled generously with clever little tips to make the entire sock knitting process easier than ever.

After following Lara Neel for some time on the Math4Knitters podcast, I’m not at all surprised to find that she continues to offer empowering knitting info. I’m just glad to have found her again! Read more from Lara at Lara’s Math4Knitters blog
